Software Engineer

Job Summary

Fuvis Limited is looking for a skilled and versatile *Software Engineer* with experience across *Data Engineering, Cloud Computing, and Full-Stack Development*. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in software engineering and practical experience with a range of modern technologies.

The role may involve working across *Databricks, Apache Spark, Python, AWS, Microsoft Azure, databases, backend services, APIs, and frontend technologies*, depending on the project and business requirements.

Please note: It is not expected that candidates have experience with every technology or skill listed in this job description. We are looking for strong software engineering fundamentals and relevant experience in one or more of the areas above. Candidates with a combination of these skills and a willingness to learn and work across different technologies are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software applications and data platforms.

• Develop data engineering solutions using technologies such as *Python, Apache Spark, and Databricks*.

• Build and maintain data pipelines for batch and real-time data processing.

• Design and implement cloud-based solutions using *AWS and/or Microsoft Azure*.

• Develop backend services, REST APIs, microservices, and integration components.

• Develop and maintain frontend applications and user interfaces where required.

• Work with databases, data warehouses, and data storage technologies.

• Implement data transformation, processing, validation, and quality frameworks.

• Develop scalable and highly available cloud-based applications.

• Work with CI/CD pipelines, source control, automation, and Infrastructure as Code.

• Troubleshoot application, data, infrastructure, and deployment issues.

• Collaborate with engineering, data, product, and other technical teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.

• Follow software engineering best practices including testing, code reviews, documentation, security, and performance optimisation.

Technical SkillsProgramming & Software Development

• *Python* and/or other programming languages.

• Object-oriented programming and software engineering principles.

• REST APIs, backend services, and microservices.

• Full-Stack Development experience.

• JavaScript/TypeScript and frameworks such as *React* are desirable.

• Git and modern software development practices.

Data Engineering

• *Apache Spark / PySpark*.

• *Databricks* and Lakehouse technologies.

• ETL/ELT data pipelines.

• Data transformation and data modelling.

• SQL and relational databases.

• Data warehousing and cloud data platforms.

• Batch and/or streaming data processing.

Cloud & Infrastructure

• *AWS and/or Microsoft Azure*.

• Cloud architecture and cloud-native application development.

• Cloud compute, storage, networking, security, and managed services.

• Infrastructure as Code, particularly *Terraform*, is desirable.

• Docker and containerisation are desirable.

DevOps & CI/CD

• CI/CD and automated software delivery.

• GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar technologies.

• Deployment automation, monitoring, and logging.

• Kubernetes or other container orchestration technologies are desirable.

Desirable Skills

Experience with any of the following would be beneficial, but *is not mandatory*:

• Databricks Workflows, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog.

• AWS and Azure data services.

• Kafka or other streaming technologies.

• FastAPI, Flask, or similar Python frameworks.

• React or other modern frontend frameworks.

• PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or similar databases.

• Terraform and cloud automation.

• Cloud security and identity management.

• Distributed systems and high-volume data processing.

• Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related discipline is desirable.

• Professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, cloud engineering, or a related field.

• Demonstrable experience delivering production-grade software, data, or cloud solutions.

Pay: £33,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
