Market Data Developer | Global Hedge Fund | London
Most firms consume market data. Very few build the platforms that make it usable.
We're hiring a Market Data Developer to help build the next generation of a firm's market data platform, creating the infrastructure that captures, stores, transforms and distributes data used across research, trading and analytics.
This is a systems engineering role sitting at the intersection of data platforms, distributed systems and infrastructure engineering.
The focus isn't on writing trading strategies; it's on building the underlying platform that allows those strategies, researchers and investment teams to operate effectively.
You'll be joining a team investing heavily in modern data architecture, using technologies such as ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, object storage and distributed processing frameworks to support large-scale market data workloads.
What you'll be working on
Building and scaling the firm's market data platform
Designing data lake and lakehouse infrastructure
Developing pipelines that ingest, transform and distribute market data
What we're looking for
Strong software engineering experience in C# and/or Python
Experience building data platforms or distributed systems
Strong understanding of databases and storage technologies
Nice to have
Infrastructure as Code
DevOps practices
Observability and monitoring
You don't need prior trading or finance experience to succeed in this role. The team is far more interested in engineers who have solved difficult platform and data challenges than those who simply happen to have worked in financial services before.
