Tempest Vane Partners is working with a newly established, diversified credit hedge fund that is looking to add a technically versatile Hedge Fund Technologist to its team.
This is a broad position offering exposure across development, data, cloud, business applications and infrastructure, with the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders across the firm.
Reporting to the C-suite, you will sit at the intersection of technology and the wider business, helping teams solve technical problems, improve existing processes and introduce new tools where they can add genuine value.
The firm has a strong preference for practical, scalable solutions and makes extensive use of enterprise platforms and low-code technology. This role will therefore suit someone who enjoys being hands-on and getting involved in a variety of projects, rather than specialising in one particular area.
The Role:
Develop and maintain internal tooling and automation, primarily using Python
Work with PostgreSQL, including database development, querying and performance optimisation
Support the firm's Microsoft 365 and Azure environment, including Entra and SharePoint
Build and enhance workflows and reporting through Power BI and Power Automate
Provide technical support and oversight across elements of the firm's infrastructure and trading environment
Work with external IT providers and help ensure technology services are delivered effectively
Identify practical opportunities to use AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude across the business
Get involved with emerging AI capabilities including connectors, agents and development tools
Work closely with teams across the organisation to understand problems and implement technology solutions
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for someone with a minimum of around 1 year of professional experience who has built a strong technical foundation but is still early enough in their career to be excited by learning across different areas.
You should have:
Good experience with Python and SQL/PostgreSQL
Exposure to Microsoft 365, Azure and/or Power Platform
A genuine interest in AI and how it can be applied within a financial environment
The ability to pick up unfamiliar technologies quickly
Strong communication skills and confidence working with non-technical stakeholders
A proactive, hands-on approach and willingness to take ownership
