We’re supporting a tech company in the global logistics space as they hire a Senior Engineer / Head of Engineering. This is a hands-on leadership role in a small, ambitious team working on hard problems.

The Company

They build decision-making infrastructure for logistics operators. Their platform takes messy real-world data (live tracking feeds, emails, PDFs, spreadsheets) and turns it into one trusted, real-time picture of where things actually are. Predictions and automated decisions sit on top of that. Customers use it to make real operational calls, so accuracy matters.

The Role

You'll lead the engineering team and own technical delivery as the platform moves from pilots to enterprise customers. Reporting to the CTO, you'll set technical direction and stay close to the architecture and the code.

In your first six months you'll:

Take the platform from pilot to a hardened, multi-tenant production setup

Finalise the engineering standards and make them enforceable in CI

Improve and measure data quality, extraction accuracy and streaming latency

Grow the team: define roles, run hiring and set the bar

Tech stack

TypeScript/Node.js and Python · event streaming (Kafka) · graph database (Neo4j) · Docker on GCP · Terraform · GitHub Actions · LLM-based extraction pipelines

You don't need to have used these exact tools. Equivalent experience is just as relevant.

What they're looking for

• 7+ years in software engineering, including 3+ in technical leadership or engineering management

•Experience leading small teams (4–10) in production environments

•Hands-on with event streaming, graph or similar databases, and distributed services, whatever the tooling

•Production experience on a major cloud platform (AWS, GCP or Azure) with CI/CD and infrastructure as code

•Experience with multi-tenant systems and customer data isolation

•Owned architecture end to end, from design to running it in production

•Can explain technical trade-offs clearly to engineers and non-technical people

•Comfortable in a small company where ownership is broad

Nice to have

• Experience fine-tuning or deploying LLMs for information extraction

• ML models running in production pipelines

• OIDC/SAML identity platforms

Logistics experience

A background in logistics, shipping or supply chain would help, but it isn't essential.

Experience building complex, real-time data platforms in any sector is just as relevant. This could be fintech, mobility, energy, IoT or similar.
