Backend Engineer | Hybrid (3 days a week in London) | Up to £90,000 + Meaningful Equity | Python + Flask

We’re currently working with a fast-growing, technology-driven startup that’s on a mission to transform personalised consumer experiences through innovation and scale. Their platform powers a multi-brand ecosystem, supported by proprietary technology spanning e-commerce, data, and in-house operations.

As they enter their next phase of growth, they’re looking for a strong backend engineer to join a high-impact team. They embrace modern, AI-assisted development workflows and treat agentic tools as a core part of how they build and ship software.

This is a hybrid role, with three days per week in a Central London office and two days remote.

What You'll Do:

Build Core Platform Services

Design and develop the APIs, services, and data models that power customer consultations, prescriptions, subscriptions, and order generation.

Own Features End-to-End

Take backend features from concept through to production, ensuring they remain reliable, scalable, and maintainable once live

Write clean, well-tested code that other engineers can easily understand, extend, and build upon

Support Full Product Delivery

While backend engineering is the primary focus, you'll also contribute to React-based frontend features when required to deliver complete customer experiences

Develop software where accuracy and reliability matter, supporting systems that directly impact customer treatments and orders

Who You Are:

Strong Backend Engineer

You have solid commercial experience building production backend services and APIs using Python, and can confidently discuss complex projects you've delivered

You understand data modelling, API design, testing practices, and how to build maintainable software at scale

You build defensively and care about correctness, recognising the real-world impact software defects can have on customers

Comfortable working closely with engineers, product teams, operations, and clinical stakeholders while documenting decisions clearly through PRs and technical documentation.

Growth Mindset

Typically coming from a 3–6 year software engineering background, but depth of experience and technical capability are valued more than years served

Technical Skills:

Strong experience with:

Python

Flask

RESTful API development

Relational databases (MySQL preferred)

Backend service architecture

Automated testing and code quality practices

Desirable experience with:

React

AWS

Docker

Modern cloud-native development environments

What’s on Offer

Competitive salary plus meaningful equity package

Hybrid working with flexible hours

25 days holiday plus bank holidays

Daily meals provided in the office

£500 annual learning budget

Health and wellbeing support, including a healthcare plan and cycle-to-work scheme

Family support benefits, including childcare cost-saving schemes

Regular team events and a strong, collaborative culture
